Toss Back Tuesday: Found Objects

Toss Back Tuesday: Found Objects

Welcome to my second monthly (quarterly?) addition of Creative Dexterity's 'Toss Back Tuesday' to where I go deep into my 'Creative Archives' of arts, crafts, metalsmithing and beyond. It's a chance for me to revisit and showcase my previous work!

This month's collection is my found object jewelry.  All of these pieces incorporate one of my "cabinet of curiosities collectables" into wearables.  Collectables include 2-D images, like these (random) toilet and no mp3 allowed ring.  You'd never guess where and when (since mp3 players are technically vintage at this point) I found these images from.  But if you guessed from an airplane safety pamphlet then we need to talk, especially if you found these pamphlets just as interesting and darkly humorous as I did.

Other collectables I had were in 3D form, mostly mini or pieces of plastic toys.

Plastic toy animal heads that were upcycled into earring studs   Plastic toy pigs upcycled into a pendant   Plastic Ewok Toy upcycled into a bracelet

Plastic toy guns upcyled into jewelry Plastic toy pig upcyled into jewelry

With the exception of 'Plaqued' including brass and a nickel spring pin (my mounted toy animal head pin) all my upcycled found object pieces were made in sterling silver and sterling silver elements.  The only remaining piece from this collection, yet to find a wearer, is my Zebra Head ring!
